The myofascial release approach of massage therapy is a soft tissue therapy used to treat somatic dysfunction and the resulting pain / restriction of motion. The process uses palpatory feedback to achieve the maximum release of myofascial tissues. The approach is successful by relaxing contracted muscles, increasing circulation and lymphatic drainage and stimulating the stretch reflex of muscles and overlying fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints). Somatic Cranial

Somatic Cranial Work, or craniosacral therapy, was developed from the osteopathic field. Cranial work is done with the client fully clothed, lying on the massage table.

The core of this therapy involves the therapist using their hands to sense the flow of craniosacral fluid, which has a regular flow from head to tailbone (sacrum). By following the movement patterns of the area being treated, the client's body itself will begin to unlock and unwind the muscle spasms.
